Diversified Technique deals with biomechanical failure in each segment of the spine, concerning specific subluxation. (Subluxation as a chiropractic term means one or more vertebrae are out of their proper alignment.) This classic technique focuses on restoring normal bio-mechanical function and on correcting subluxation. Injuries such as sports injuries can be treated using Diversified methods that modify extremity joints. Correcting mechanical distortions of the spine can be done with exactness, because Diversified spine adjustment uses specific lines of drive for all manual thrusts. Because Diversified techniques use motion palpitation and full spine, hands-on application, no instruments are used, and deeper thrusts are delivered, making a popping sound as the adjustment is administered. Analysis and diagnosis is given before treatment commonly using x-rays and case histories. Patients are more familiar with the Diversified Technique, because it is the most commonly used of all chiropractic techniques.
Soft Tissue Manipulation – Various soft tissue techniques are used to decrease muscle spasms. Examples of these methods are Myofascial Trigger Point (MFTP), NIMMO, and Myofascial Release, which focuses on stretching distressed muscles. Another soft tissue technique is Positional Release, which is used for muscles that are over-stretched. This method deals with trigger points and places muscle fibers in a more comfortable position for the patient.
Deep Pressure/Deep Tissue Massage – Deep Pressure Massage is performed with sustained strong, occasionally intense, pressure throughout an entire full-body session, and does not necessarily address a specific complaint. Deep Tissue massage is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia and other structures, in Deep Pressure Massage. However, Deep Tissue Massage is only employed for specific complaints when addressing individuals who are experiencing consistent pain, individuals involved in heavy physical activity, or individuals with a sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon after receiving Deep Tissue Massage to have pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.
Extremity Manipulating and Adjusting – Extremity Manipulating and Adjusting is applied to joints in extremities such as the shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee, or foot. This method is used to treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, gait, or posture-related problems.
